Tabyus Taylor staying at Hopewell

Hopewell wide receiver Tabyus Taylor will remain at Hopewell, football coach Ricky Irby said. There were rumors that the All-Metro player would transfer to John Marshall.

Taylor was named All-Metro in 2012 after leading the area in receiving yards with 990. He also scored 14 touchdowns. Since then, Irby said, Taylor has gained 20 pounds and cut his 40-yard dash time from 4.69 to 4.57. Taylor is expected to play some quarterback for Hopewell, too.

“He’s a really good kid,” Irby said. “I think he’s gonna have a huge year.”
